about

"[re]turning point EP" is the third and last release from the first trilogy of works from cats[in]musique. The meaning behind its name, relies on the fact that this EP from the "[re:]" trilogy would mean a "point of (no) return" to the original sound of the project and was planned to be a closure. Therefore, most of the songs from this record started to part ways from the LoFi hip-hop genre and became closer to synthwave, dark electronic, downtempo, and so on. However, it has some moments where we go back, just to taste some of that familiar chillhop vibes.

The whole production took about three months, starting on february 6th, 2021. Around march, mixing and mastering would be the end of a long and exhausting journey where new instruments would be used to add powerful bass synths, granular drones and industrial sounds. The end result, thankfuly, was as satisfactory as expected, and opened up new possibilites for future works in the project.

In short, "[re]turning point EP" is everything I aimed to create as an independent artist who's always looking up for new waves in the deep sea of music. And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
